It is not every day that you hear someone say that they love their job, but I truly do. From a young age, I knew I wanted to become a lawyer. As a child of two lawyers, I saw how knowledge of the law could be used to help people overcome some of the most trying times in their lives. After earning my law degree, I handled complex business litigation matters for one of the largest law firms in Indianapolis. The experience I gained there was invaluable and laid the foundation for my legal career. It was not until I had my first family law client, however, that I realized that this was the area of law in which I wanted to dedicate my practice.
For most people, going through a divorce or dealing with family related issues represent some of the darkest times in their lives. For certain, these circumstances are difficult by their very nature, but they don’t have to be paralyzing or life-defeating. I believe that if you gain an understanding of your rights and entitlements under the law, you can begin to take the “unknown” out of your situation, and ultimately begin to plan your course out of and beyond your current circumstance. Whether it is handling a divorce, or modifying child custody and support, my focus is on helping my clients understand their rights and on providing them with skilled and compassionate legal advice. I want my clients to know that they have someone on their side; someone that is going to listen to them, counsel them on their rights under the law, and have their best interests at heart.
The area of family law is diverse, but I focus my practice primarily in working with and mediating for (as a Registered Domestic Mediator) clients in divorce matters (pre & post), child related matters (custody, support, relocation), paternity matters, divorce decree enforcement, emancipation, and custody evaluations. I am familiar with dividing retirement assets owned by government and military employees, as well as marital estates that include closely held family businesses.
“Divorce is a hard time in anyone’s life. Not knowing what your future may hold in the next ten years, or even the next ten days can be terrifying. That’s where I come in. I listen to my client’s story, expectations, and concerns, and provide them sound legal advice to guide them through their family law matter.”
